Over the past few weeks, Creative Minds have been collaborating with the amazing fundraising team at the Gold Coast University Hospital.  Our primary purpose for reaching out to the fundraising team was to initiate a fundraising scheme for the Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) & Special Care Unit (SCU) at the Gold Coast University Hospital.  NICU & SCU are causes very personal & dear to members of our team, families that attend our service & members of our wider community.  Due to these care units being so important to us, we have decided on a goal to help support them.

Currently, the parents of the premature babies that are being cared for in the NICU & SCU can be in there for months at a time, bonding with their new bundles of joy, feeding, promoting skin to skin and much more. Whilst they are in NICU & SCU, the parents are using very uncomfortable basic chairs for lengthy periods of time.  The photo below shows 2 photo’s, the photo on the left shows the current chair that is being utilised, it is basic, very uncomfortable and poorly suited to the purpose. The photo on the right shows the chair that would be so much for comfortable and ergonomic for these new parents that are experiencing time in these care units. The new chair is a special medical chair suited for feeding, skin to skin contact, it reclines back and is even suited to CPR if needed. The price of the chair is $2000.

By the end of June, we are hoping to raise the funds to purchase a chair for this very important cause. If not all of the funds, at least a portion to go to the hospital to contribute towards purchasing a chair. Stay tuned for the variety of fundraising schemes we will be hosting over the next month & a half.
