Why Do Children Bite?
Biting can be a common stage of development in early childhood, particularly for toddlers and young children who are still developing their language and social skills. Children may bite when they are frustrated, excited, overwhelmed, tired, seeking attention, or simply because they do not yet have the words to express their feelings and needs.
At Creative Minds, we understand that biting is a form of communication and is not intended to cause harm. Our focus is on supporting children as they learn more appropriate ways to express themselves and interact with
others.
others. To help children through this stage, we implement an individual Biting Management Plan. This plan allows our educators to identify possible triggers, monitor patterns, communicate with parents and use consistent support strategies tailored to each child’s needs. By working closely with families and educators, we can help children develop the language, emotional regulation, and social skills needed to move through this stage successfully.
We appreciate your support and partnership as we guide children through these important learning experiences.
