We have come to an important time of the year as our Kindergarten children are getting ready to start prep in a couple of weeks.  This also means that other children within the centre are busy transitioning in preparation to move onto the next studio.

We have six beautiful studios which have been given indigenous animal names:

  • Jiburr Studio (sugar glider).  This studio cares and educates children from six weeks to 2 years old.
  • Guran Studio (possum).  This studio welcomes children from 15 months to 2 years old

We have two junior kindy studios that educate and care for our children who are aged between 2 -3 years old.

  • Borobi Studio (koala), and
  • Buneen Studio (echidna).

We have a senior kindy room – Murun Studio (emu) that has educators who support and guide our 3 – 4 year old children.

We also have our Muni Studio (kangaroo) which is our Queensland Government approved kindergarten program.  This is lead by our qualified Kindergarten teacher, Miss Emma.

As a team we chose to name our rooms as we focus on every child as an individual and didn’t want families to have unrealistic expectations for their children to be in a studio due to just their age.  We prefer to focus holistically on each child to ensure that they are ready in areas such as social, emotional and physical domains before considering transitioning them.  Once agreed and in partnership with families, the educators assist children with regular visits to their new studios and to develop reciprocal relationships with their new educators.  They assist the children to understand the routines and practices of their new studio and to feel as comfortable as possible with the process of this change.

This little munchkin who attends our Jiburr Studio has already developed a relationship with the educators in the Guran Studio as they share a spacious outdoor area and therefore she is very comfortable to move between the two studios, exploring and experiencing a variety of opportunities that are available for her.
